We chose Christchurch Solar (CS) after considering proposals from two other suppliers as well. We also had CS install a EV smart charger as part of the overall solar installation. We chose CS due to their excellent advice on designing and specifying a system, the quality of the components they proposed and the value for money. We got a few quotes, from different solar installers, and decided on Nelson Solar. We’re very happy with that decision. The professionalism, knowledge, quality of work, accessibility/ communications, and now the ongoing support (after care) have all exceeded our expectations. They take care of everything, EVERYTHING. Toby is great. Not pushy & works within your budget and situation - in our case a tricky roof, with hot water tubes taking up the best part of the North aspect. Dean (also from Wanaka Solar) is electrician extraordinaire. We were given an estimate of how much power our proposed system would generate and happy to report the reality is even better. I live off-grid, and a number of years ago, James from Dunedin Solar came out to assess and quote an upgrade to our existing solar system. At the time, the cost came in a bit over budget, and with the Tesla Powerwall not integrating with a generator, we decided to hold off and make do with what we had. A couple of years later, James checked back in with us—this time with a new option: a complete home battery system from Sigenergy. It’s been performing very well, looks sharp, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it handles the winter months. The team at Dunedin Solar carried out the installation to an exceptionally high standard. Their attention to detail, commitment to quality workmanship, and clear prioritisation of the end result over profit were all really impressive. What’s made the experience even better is the ongoing support. After getting a couple of quotes from the market I contracted Wanaka Solar to install a panels plus battery system to our home in early 2025 and have been very happy with the arrangement. A detailed initial proposal was delivered, and approx three months after commitment the installation was undertaken. The installers were attentive and professional, and I considered they did a good job. There were a couple of glitches, firstly over timely communications with arrangements regarding the necessary permits, and then with getting the digital monitoring arrangement in place after installation, but putting those little details to one side I am otherwise very happy with the product delivered and the supporting service. I believe that solar energy has a much bigger future in NZ, both in domestic homes and in industry. Andrew Millar, Wanaka.

Tom and Joey and their team were superb at walking us through the process of adding affordable solar to our house. Their low pressure sales approach and very competitive pricing was really appreciated. We have gone for a 19 panel array with a good quality inverter that can be upgraded to a battery in the future. Have nothing but good things to say about this company!

Christchurch solar performed my install in November 2024. They installed 24x 450w sunpower panels and a Tesla PW3. I choose them as they were super responsive, recommended by Tesla and very knowledgeable! Jake was great to deal with through the pre-sales phase and in the run up to install. They had a couple of setbacks during the install but they dealt with them professionally and communicated well. Really impressed with the whole journey and they have continued to stay in contact. It’s a big investment and it’s reassuring their level of care. I am sure if I had any issues they would support me in a heartbeat.

The whole team are knowledgeable professionals making the process very easy. The work was undertaken efficiently and cleanly leaving no trace with no disruption to our lives. We are super happy with our set up and are looking forward to using Queenstown Solar again for our investment property. If you're in the Whakatipu they are the team to use.

10/10 from start to finish. Queenstown Solar installed a solar system on our house in August. They had great communication throughout the process, really tidy installation with a lot of care given and the conversion seems to be well worth while so far. They gave us a great handover and explained all we needed to know. We would fully recommend them.

Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, patient, and will go out of their way to make sure you're informed and satisfied. Up front cost is slightly more than other companies, but you'll save that in the follow-up help they give you (think booking with a decent airline instead of a budget one with hidden fees). Would 100% recommend to a friend! Big thanks to the management team Paul and Cody for answering my many questions, and big thanks to the installation team Andrew, Damien and Luciano for the prompt and friendly install, including making sure that the placement worked nicely in my small garage. They even cleaned my gutters out for me while they were on the roof installing the solar panels!
